MOVING TOWARDS DIGITALIZATION
The growth of any country is dependent on a responsive and transparent government service that engages its citizens on various public issues.
Digitization is a key driver in establishing a responsive and transparent relationship with the public. Furthermore, digitization has a direct impact on the socio-economic development of a nation. Therefore online services allow governments to reach a wider audience.
KEEPING UP WITH THE TIMES
The biggest challenge facing most countries is improving efficiencies around existing public services and processes. Public Services have to adapt to modern methods to ensure the future health of government. The focus is developing digital channels to provide access to information and services. Thus, establishing a two-way conversation between government and the public.
DATA IS KEY
Core to a mature digital future is employing big data and insight-driven data. This can be done by harnessing the intelligence of a larger community made up groups and skills that are able to co-create online data portals with government. The data can then be used to build various open source digital tools that citizens are able to use to educate themselves about government spending and services. In turn giving feedback to government on how best to provide services for civic society.
ESTABLISHING A DIALOGUE
The future of Industry 4.0 lies in harnessing the entrepreneurial spirit of those who require a place to connect with skills and knowledge, and relevant government services to action their ideas. Establishing a collaborative environment between various sectors and governmental departments to establish an innovation and entrepreneurial centre will become an even bigger catalyst for more ideas as the community grows. These ideas could be crowdsourced solutions that are able to tackle key issues facing government eg. congested cities, safety, education.
SECURITY OF PRIVATE DATA
To gain the trust of citizens is critical to address the nervousness around sharing information and ensuring that peoples’ data is safe. Cybersecurity has become number one on agendas across all digital platforms and if citizens are able to rely on the cyber protection of their government it have the support of the digital community going forward.
Lastly, what are the key drivers to becoming a smart city. 5G, IoT and connected ecosystems that offer a seamless real-time experience for the end user. It’s time to make our cities ready for Industry 4.0. It’s the smart thing to do.
